Ref U01 - Torre della Sapienza

About 30 km south of Perugia, a short distance from the autostrada, Torre della Sapienza, a small farm estate, is located atop a quiet hillside with enviable views of the Umbrian countryside in all directions. The fabulous pottery of Deruta is less than 5 miles away. Restaurants featuring Umbria's famous truffles, wild game, young Pecorino cheese, and delicious olive oil are but a few minutes away in Marsciano and other small villages. Two farmhouses, no longer used for agriculture, have been converted to apartments available for rent by the week or longer.

Perched on a hill, surrounded by fields of grain and vineyards, with lovely views, each house is built on two floors, with independent access to all apartments. Guests share the garden (over 5,000 square yards), barbecue, swimming pool (1 for each farmhouse, each approximately 14 yards by 7 yards, open June through September), and covered car parking places.

Individual apartments vary in size, accommodating 2 to 6 persons. All are modern and comfortable, completely furnished and equipped for daily use. Clean towels and line are provided weekly. Apartments are heated either centrally, or with the use of portable gas space heaters.

Torre della Sapienza is ideally located for travelers wishing to enjoy the beautiful countryside of Umbria, also known as the green heart of Italy, as well as the famous art centers of central Italy and attractions offered by such historic towns as Perugia, Assisi (native town of St. Francis and St. Claire), Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto (with perhaps the most beautiful gothic cathedral in Italy), Gubbio, and many others. Both Rome and Florence are less than 2 hours away by car.

In the center of the estate, RIPE, a graceful two story stucco villa, offers wonderful views of the estate's green and gold fields of corn and wheat, and overlooks a beautiful swimming pool reserved for guests. The villa has been tastefully restored with six comfortably furnished apartments ranging from one bedroom, one bath, to three bedroom, two bath accommodations. Surrounded by green lawns, flower beds and lovely cypress trees, there are several private outdoor areas for dining, sunbathing or daydreaming. This is an ideal vacation retreat for the sophisicated traveller seeking uncommon value. A similar villa, CORVO, contains 4 separate apartments, each accomodating 2 to 4 persons. It is about 1/2 km. distant from RIPE, and has its own swimming pool an outdoor facilities.

Ref U01A - RIPE "A"
This apartment sleeps 2 persons, and is on the ground floor. It consists of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, a kitchen area, and a living room.

Ref U01C - RIPE "C"
This apartment sleeps up to 4 persons, and is on the first (ground) floor. It consists of 2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom with shower and hip bath, a large sized living room with dining area and sofa bed, and a medium sized kitchen.

Ref U01F - RIPE "F"
This apartment can accommodate up to 6 persons, and is on the second (upper) floor. It consists of 3 bedrooms (1 with bunk beds), 2 bathrooms (1 en suite with shower, 1 with hip bath and hand shower), a living room with dining area and small fireplace, and a kitchen.

The apartments at Torre della Sapienza are available year around. 1999 seasons and prices are as follows.

High seasons are from 6/26 to 8/28, 3/27 to 4/10 (Easter), and 12/18 to 1/8/2000 (Christmas/New Years). Mid seasons are from 5/29 to 6/26, and from 8/28 to 10/2. Low seasons are at all other times.
